Derby stop the war coalition is a group of people from in and around the city acting as part of groups or as individuals who have a wide range of views and come from many backgrounds, but who all believe that any war against Iraq is unjust. The coalition was formed in 2001 after the horrific attacks on the world trade centre. Our aim was to oppose any revenge attacks on Afghanistan.

Sussex Action for Peace was formed in October 2001 in response to the war against Afghanistan. Activists gathered at a public meeting, angry at the punishment of a whole nation in revenge for the September 11 terrorist attacks and determined to do something about it. Weekly vigils were held by the war memorial and outside the army recruitment office in Brighton, and stalls were organised outside the Peace Centre to publicise and gain support for our opposition to the war.
